Where We Came From, How We Got Here:
Directis was founded in September 2003 in Vancouver, BC. The original business plan states that our mission would be:
In Vancouver, our customer base was a diverse lot. We worked with software companies, book publishers/distributors, a private trades training company, manufacturers (both high-tech and low-tech) and even a special effects movie company. Our services spanned a broad spectrum, including human resources/recruiting, marketing, financial management and strategic planning. As a member of the Vancouver Board of Trade, Susan Low served on the Small Business Council for two years, representing the interests of small business in one of BC’s largest business organizations.
Directis has varied in size from one to five consultants, which explains why our legal name is “Directis Consulting Group Ltd.” Although there is just one fulltime consultant now, Directis has a great depth of expertise in its professional network.
In January 2008, Directis relocated to Victoria BC. After a brief period of adjustment, the company has focused more narrowly on strategic planning and developed a capacity in facilitation, which is a necessary skill for good strategic planning consultants. We’re still serving some of our favorite clients on the mainland, and frequently travel up island. In September 2010 we celebrated seven years of business, a major milestone for any small business!
