As a small-business owner, are you following the trends of workforce training?
The Canadian Federation for Independent Business (CFIB) recently reported that small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) spend about $18 billion on training their employees each year. In fact, small businesses with fewer than 50 employees spend more on training per employee than larger businesses. That’s great news — but it’s only part of the story.
The CFIB’s 2009 study indicates that, on average, 73 per cent of SMEs have a difficult time finding the right employees, particularly for jobs that only require a high-school education and on-the-job training. …
