The field of strategic planning is awash with literature and opinions. One can spend literally years sifting through all of the inherited wisdom of our ages, from the early luminaries like Henry Mintzberg to today’s gurus like Peter Senge and Peter Drucker. However, in my experience, most writing and scholarly thinking about strategy is aimed at large organizations. When I set out to begin Directis Consulting, it was my goal to translate all of that scholarly thinking and writing into practical techniques that can be applied in small organizations.
This e-book represents an initial collection of some of the best and most useful ideas I have learned about strategic planning, viewed through the lens of a small business or non-profit organization. I’ve included information about how to organize and approach your own strategic planning efforts, because often “how” is just as hard as “what”.
