Do-It-Yourself Strategic Planning Series

The DIY Strategic Planning Series is aimed at small business owners/managers and executive directors of small non-profit organizations. The purpose of the series is to provide participants with a working introduction to strategic planning, and demonstrate tools or methods which can be put to use immediately.

Strategic planning is the backbone of a successful business or non-profit organization, big or small.  Much like planning your route and destination for a road trip, choosing where you want your organization to go and creating a plan to get there is fundamental to your success. Without a strategic plan you will constantly find yourself forced into “reactive” mode, fighting fires instead of moving along the path to achieving your ambitions.

In the DIY Strategic Planning workshop, Susan Low will introduce participants to strategic planning, and show them how they can start implementing strategy in their own organizations immediately. You’ll learn how to use tools like the SWOT analysis with greater effectiveness, and see how the DIY Marketing Plan Template from Directis Consulting works to guide your marketing strategy and save you money.

You can achieve success without a strategic plan, but a plan can multiply your success while preparing you for harder times. Strategic planning can help you tremendously in your organization, especially if:

• You won’t reach revenue or profit goals this year, didn’t reach them in the past year, or don’t have specific goals.
• You are often distracted by great opportunities and ideas to grow, but they never turn out the way you expected.
• (For business owners) it’s time to think about an exit strategy and you’re not clear what the future will look like for your business.
